[LU] Simple solution

I think you've all missed the point. It would almost certainly be Leeds
United finishing fourth from bottom next season and coming back into League
1. Mind you, at least it'd be the Football League's fault again!
I think our almost-secure play-off slot is a face-saving formula for the FL:
give us back enough points to keep us just below Carlisle. That means in the
last game of the season, they have their fate in their own hands. The
play-offs wouldn't change (Brighton might moan if they won their last two
and we lost ours, I guess) if we lost that game, and the other three
play-off teams are secure whatever happens. But if we beat Gillingham and
Carlisle lose, their consolation is three extra games (potentially)
including a Wembley final. That ought to keep the chairman happy.
(Actually, all these bright ideas are academic. The FL has no say now, it's
down to the chairman on the tribunal. And if he's even starting to consider
the consequences for other teams in the league, he's not doing his job
right.)
