Certainly never had that problem at Fairoaks, which I also liked, and was  
very "clubby". Then again, instructors are a very mixed bag...the older guys who 
 weren't aiming to get back into the airlines were often a lot better, though 
the  younger ex-RAF types tend to give more feedback while you're flying...
